Draw me like one of your frenchies
You’ve got a pup who is not just a good dog, but would make an excellent model. Well this is everything that you need to know about your first modelling session with Dog Life Drawing
Thank you for your interest in bringing your dog along to model at one of our Dog Life Drawing classes. We really would not be able to do it without you.
There really are very little requirements from a dog’s perspective, but here are a few helpful things before your session.
At any point, if you or your dog feels uncomfortable, you are welcome to take some space or leave entirely.
We want to make sure that your pet feels looked after and we will take all reasonable adjustments to make them feel welcome.
You are in control at all times, and we are there to make you feel supported.
Okay, I’m interested…
Don’t worry, I am sure they are cute enough, they always are. If you are interested, then it couldn’t be easier to get you added to our books as a dog model.
Firstly, I need you to provide some details so that I can add your dog to our roster. This includes basic information like their name, breed, age and a picture of them too.
You’ll get chance to share if they have any historic issues with other dogs or people. As part of this, you sign a waiver to say you will be responsible for your dog throughout the session
Once I’ve reviewed your request, I’ll add you to a WhatsApp group for our dog models. There, I will share any and all information about upcoming sessions.
Don’t worry about being overrun by messages, only I will be able to post in this group.
Look out for regular polls for a dog drawing date. Please answer them if you can/can’t make it along.
A few weeks before the session, I’ll confirm you as a dog model by adding you into a separate group for that specific date along with the other models.
There are usually 4-5 dogs per session, and in this group you will be able to talk to me and the other owners about the session.
In that group, I’ll ask for a few extra pictures for social media and share details about the session you have been confirmed for.
Really, we like to keep it chill. These sessions are all about the dogs, so we are always looking for more models to add to our books. However being a model isn’t difficult, so the only requirements are:
Your dog does not need to sit still the whole time, they can move around and meet people. They do not need to socialise with other dogs, it’s a great place for nervous pups to get more comfortable. And they do not need to be well groomed – we love a scruffy face!
From the Great Danes weighing in 68kg to the Chihuahuas at 2.8kg. From Eurasians that are more fluff than anything else to a tightly trimmed cockapoo or labradoodle.
We want all shapes and sizes in our sessions and I ensure that each class always has a variety of dogs to draw.
You’ve got me – I’m in for a Dog Drawing session
Living vicariously through your dog
I’m the man behind Dog Life Drawing in Bristol. Not only do I love a good excuse to be sent dog pictures, but I’m an Artist & Illustrator with 10 years experience running workshops in Bristol.
Though we’ve got a team of facilitators you’ll inevitably meet like local artists Beth Kirby and Fra Beecher, Cai is the one with the dog spreadsheet. Any and all of your questions will go to him.
So let’s talk dogs.
If you are interested in bringing a dog to model, I’m all ears (and tails, and paws too) so please fill out the sign-up form below.
Or, if you’ve got any more questions, then don’t be afraid to send me a message asking for some more information.
